AI isn’t just changing jobs. It might be changing how we grow into them. Terry reflects on a question that’s been on his mind: for decades, entry-level tasks like drafting reports, building spreadsheets, and writing first drafts weren’t just busywork. They were how young professionals built the experience to eventually become skilled managers and experts. Now AI can do a lot of those same tasks, faster and cheaper. Terry argues we’re asking the wrong question when we focus only on “will AI replace jobs?” The more important question is what happens to the pipeline of future experience when the entry-level rungs disappear.
